Parking and Traffic Information in Montpellier
If you are hiring a car in Montpellier, bear in mind that the historic centre of the city, including the old town quarter, Écusson, and Antigone, to the east, are pedestrian zones, so you may need to park outside and walk to your destination. Parking though, is plentiful, with underground car parks on Boulevard Sarrail, Place des Martyrs de la Résistance and Rue Foch offering 825, 661 and 451 car parking spaces respectively. Limited on-street parking is available further away, such as on Avenue du Pirée, but expect a healthy walk into the city centre. Remember, too, to allow plenty of time for driving in rush hour, morning and evening, because traffic congestion can be a problem in Montpellier as it can in many European cities.
