Car & Van Rental at Cavan

An attractive market town, Cavan is handily situated next to the junction serving the N3 and the N55, both major roads. Heading out on the R179 to Carrickmacross, in the far east of the county, brings visitors to the pleasant Dun Na Ri Forest Park which has four marked trails, picnic benches and some interesting sculptures. In the other direction, the Slieve Russell Hotel offers a world-class spa and wellness centre – the ideal thing for a spot of relaxation after enjoying all of the activities on offer.

Airport Car Hire

Although Cavan has no airport of its own, many business and leisure visitors to the town arrive via one of the nearby hubs. Enniskillen Airport is the closest, followed by Sligo Airport and Ireland West Knock Airport. For air travellers, hiring a car to get to Cavan is a good option. Parking and Traffic Information in Cavan

The roads around Cavan and throughout the county are generally in good condition. The main arterial routes are well maintained and any works on them tend to be publicised well in advance. Being a market town, Cavan gets busy on weekends, so it is best to try and avoid driving through the main street on a Saturday afternoon. Other than that, few hold-ups are experienced unless the weather conditions force drivers to slow their pace. Because it is popular with shoppers, there is plenty of parking in the town. Expect to see several pay-and-display car parks in central Cavan, with free on-street parking afforded to visitors on the outskirts of the town. At certain hours, some car parking is free in the town, but visitors should ensure they have parked in a marked bay properly and that they do not exceed the number of free hours they are allowed.
