Renting a Car at London Stansted Airport (STN)
Local Car Hire at Stansted Airport
Although it is one of London's major transport hubs, many visitors to Stansted Airport can be surprised by just how far it is from the city centre. Onward travel from the airport, which is actually in rural Essex, is essential for most business travellers as well as tourists. Thankfully, Enterprise Rent-A-Car is located close to the terminal building on Coopers End Road, just to the north of the airport's main mid-stay car park. By choosing to hire a car, you can be in the suburbs of London within 30 minutes and in the centre of the capital soon after that. The quickest route is via the M11 motorway, which connects to the North Circular ring road (A406). If you are heading to other parts of the south-east of England, then these are all accessible via the M25 orbital motorway, which is two junctions to the south, via the M11. Because of Stansted Airport's location to the northeast of the capital, it is also an ideal place to begin exploring East Anglia, which includes the famous cathedral cities of Norwich, Ely and Cambridge. The Essex coastline is about an hour's drive away via the A120. Stansted Airport lies close to the market town of Bishop's Stortford, just over the county border in Hertfordshire. Here, you can find shops and accommodation, if required, before setting out on your onward journey.
Cheap Car Rental at Stansted Airport
As a car hire operator that prides itself on excellent deals, there is no better option for renting a vehicle in the area around Stansted Airport. For example, customers can take advantage of the low pricing if they book online in advance. Not only is this often cheaper than turning up without a booking, but you will be able to view any special offers or promotions that happen to be available. Alternatively, seek out one of the most fuel-efficient vehicles on offer to provide you with exceptional value for money during your stay, no matter how far and wide you intend to travel. Enterprise cars are maintained to a high standard, so you should always expect a vehicle that is in top condition, regardless of how attractive the pricing may be.
One-Way Car Hire from Stansted Airport
As one of the three major airports serving the UK's capital, many visitors will prefer to return their chosen hire car to another Enterprise outlet, particularly those serving the other two big London airports, Gatwick and Heathrow. This is certainly possible – as is returning your car to other popular airports in the area, such as Luton and Southend International. In fact, Enterprise has locations all over the country, so all you need to do is to let them know where you are headed to and they will advise you of the nearest branch.
A Wide Range of Vehicles to Hire
There are plenty of cars to choose from at Stansted Airport. Budget vehicles are available as either Class A Minis or Large Compacts. If you have passengers with you, then you might prefer to consider a 5-door Economy or an Intermediate vehicle. Business drivers can opt for Premium cars, as well as vehicles such as the Large 4x4s - the very thing if you want a prestigious vehicle to make an impression on your clients. People who are intending to travel with a large party should consider the merits of the exceptionally well looked after Full-Size MPVs.
Driving Information in Stansted Airport
Visitors to the UK from overseas should know that drivers sit on the right-hand side of the car, as motoring is always conducted on the left-hand side of the road. The nearby M11 motorway has a speed limit of 70 mph. The dual-carriageway sections of the A120 trunk road, which runs east-west past Stansted Airport has the same speed limitation, but parts of the road close to the terminal building restrict your legal speed further, so be careful and always take notice of the maximum speed signs. The southbound M11 is a three-lane motorway but the northbound section of it, towards Cambridge, has only two lanes and this can lead to congestion at peak hours. The nearest filling stations to the airport are located off the A120, close to the Holiday Inn building, and at Birchanger Green Services, which are situated just off the roundabout intersection of the M11, and the A120.
